Zonin is a wine group based in the Veneto region with wineries across Italy and in the USA. It is famous for its sparkling wines, and in particular Prosecco, but also produces wines in Piedmont, Lombardy, Friuli, Tuscany, Puglia and Sicily.
The core Zonin company was founded in 1821 in Gambellara in the province of Vicenza, and made wines solely in northeast Italy until the 1960s, when it began to expand into other parts of Italy. This started when Zonin bought Ca’ Bolani in Fruili, followed by Castello di Albola in Chianti Classico. Since then the empire has reached as far afield as Barboursville Vineyards in Virginia.

Today, Zonin owns nine estates in Italy, and one in the USA. Each of these produce separately marketed estate wines, and the Italian estates also supply wines for Zonin’s own label wines. Vineyard holdings across Italy exceed 2000 hectares (5000 acres).
Podere Il Giangio is the historic original vineyard of the Zonin family and is the source of single-estate Gambellara DOCG wines from the Garganega grape variety. It is sited on a steep, terraced hillside with mineral rich volcanic tuff soils.
