Châteauneuf-du-pape wine - La Fiole
This cuvée, dear to our house, and bearing the Père Anselme signature, was created in 1952 by Charles Brotte, as part of a local competition of Provençal ceramic creators. The original and surprising shape of its bottle recalls the wild and typical movement of the vine stock in the Mistral. La Fiole, "Phiala" in Latin, means in particular "precious bottle". We own it exclusively. "Pape" evokes the vintage of Châteauneuf-du-Pape as well as the presence of the Popes in the region and the village in the Middle Ages. The anthracite golden powder of the bottle is reminiscent of the wines of yesteryear.
The wine is unique and of consistent quality. Dominant Grenache, a significant portion of the House's Reserve wines - 30 to 40% (some aged 5 years) give it fruity, freshness and maturity, intensity and roundness. The wine can be enjoyed immediately or kept for 5 to 7 years.
La Fiole du Pape is now the best-selling Châteauneuf-du-Pape in the world.
